The blackout had taken Jovan by surprise as well. (When does a blackout ever NOT surprise somebody?) This late at night, of course it's obvious and eerie, and that alone is enough to set him on edge as he walks down the street. But then he hears a slight commotion--a thud, a clatter, and then--
"MOTHERFUCKER!"
Jovan freezes, too terrified to move anywhere lest the disembodied voice see him. All he can manage is to squeak out a "H-hello?" Which, as far as he's concerned, is the bravest thing he's ever done in his life.
