What: Neku and Abby have a fun time studying. Yay!

With only three weeks left before finals, Abby was in hurry to try and finish everything she could. Between all that has been going on, she knew that she needed help for math and fast. Luckily, she was able to find a tutor who happened to go the same high school has her! Although, there was one tiny problem.

Now that she was at her meeting place?

She never got his name or knew what he looked like did she? Well, now what?

[Yeah, some sort of way to find each other would have probably been a good thing to plan out, since Neku doesn't really know what Abby looks like either. But at least he's in an kind of intuitive place- he's sitting the library with some paper and his phone, so he does at least shoot her a message via the network to tell her where he is.]

[As the young girl began looking around the library, she wasn't sure what to do. Oh well, she'll have to guess and check to see who in this library looked like they would be in the number club or not!

But it was a good thing that she managed to take another look at her notebook before finally approaching a young boy somewhere in the building]

So...you're the one I'm suppose to meet...right? [She better hope so!]

Probably. [unless there's someone else looking for... someone in this exact spot. Maybe they should do introductions now.] I'm Neku, for the record.

[yes you have a Japanese kid who used to be on the competitive math team. this is not stereotyping at all.]

[She gave him a smirk] Then good! My name is Abby Perkins and it's nice to meet you, Neku.

[Stereotyping or not, she still needs help and fast! As she finally sat next to him, she stared down at the notebooks]

So...where do we start? Should I just start from the beginning of the month or just...something else?

Sort of? The teacher did give us a list of what would be on the test but outside of that? [She got nothing]

Ok, well, let's look at that and see what you know on it. [He's guessing not much, but he's not gonna say it.]

[The auburn haired girl just stared at the study guide before looking back up at Neku. Out of the 20 items of said things on there?]

Sooooo...let's just say that you know some of it but not the complete some of it? Just...tiny bits and pieces of it? Just enough where I might be able to get a decent grade but...you know? Not get an A?

[She's so screwed]

[Yeah, this is about what he was expecting. Sigh.] Ok, then let's just... start at the beginning.

[Abby just gave a nervous chuckle. She wasn't trying to impress him but admitting that she didn't know that much for her final? Yeeaaaahh....

With that, she turned to the beginning of her notebook!]

Okay so...I think we learned this during the first day of school? Find the 'x' and use whatever way to get it? I get that much but it's for the more complicated stuff!

Ok, well, how about... [he's going to go ahead and make up a few algebra problems for her- one very basic, and then kind of scaling up in difficulty until they reach a problem she clearly can't do.]

[As she continued to listen to Neku, the more she was starting to get a little bit more nervous. While it was clear she knew how to do the basics and how to set up the problem, she was getting wrong answers here and there.

But at least she's trying!]

So...it's kind of like this? You just put the number 2 here and that's what you get?

...Not at all. [sigh.] This side of the equation is squared, so in order to get rid of that, you have to take the square root of both sides. That'll cancel out the square, and then the other side you'll take the root of later.

Okay, what? I have no idea what you just said. Something about squaring something and then canceling both sides and just...what?

[NO NOT REALLY. He doesn't know how to make it any simpler than he just said.]

Ok, well, uh... you know that anything you do to one side of the equation, you have to do to the other, right? [please know that.]

[She gave a nod.]

Yeah, I know about that but... [She chuckled a bit]

I don't know, it's kind of confusing keeping track of all the equations!

Do you mean what to do to apply the right things to both sides, or just figuring out what you need to do next? [They are very different problems, and he has a better idea of how to handle the latter, but...]

Yeah, if I said it wasn't an 'or' thing but rather an 'and' thing, what would you do? Because algebra is a lot more confusing than it looks!

Ok, well... for the second one, do you write down every single step? [Neku can skip some, but Abby sounds like she needs it.]

I think so? I just add in the two over there and subtracted it over here and then add in this number and subtract it over here...

[And off she goes!]

I think I'm doing it right? Just needed to do one more step and I'll be good? [Sigh]

I'm not going to ace this am I?

Ace, probably not. [Sorry, he's honest.] But if you're careful and keep working on it... you'll at least pass.

You doing ok with this, anyway. You just need to keep track. Now, the one step you have left... what else is in the way of there just being x on one side?

But she continued to focus on her the other part. As she did so, she finally got the answer she wanted. At first, she thought about turning it in for him to see but she was starting to second guess herself if it was right or not...]

He looks over at her work before she can change it, and he'll nod.] Yeah, that's right.
