Emil swang a discarded car door at one, hitting it across the mouth, which made the recoil snake for a second but also smashed his improvised mallet.

He didn’t have time to pick anything else before the snake lunged again. Emil yelped and did the thing he could think about this fast - he punched it. His fist sank in its skull, smashing it.
