Yeah, not a lot of magic, but I can make rocks fall out of nowhere and do a little healing. The sword showed up when my mom... [he breaks off for a moment] ... when they killed her. And I guess I got some kind of experience for using it, too, somewhere.

My first? [Fred's voice drifts off a bit; it's a pretty strong memory, especially since he just re-experienced it.] I drowned.

Or, well, I remembered my other self drowning.

Can you describe the experience to me?

Well, I was asleep when it started, but it kind of felt like getting a new pulse, but... sort of different. And then I got all of my old pulses again, all at once.

How was life before you remembered? Just...normal? Do you remember anyone from the network interracting with you during that time?

Yeah. It was like I'd never had a number. Toward the beginning there was a little... fallout, I guess, from network stuff I'd done that I couldn't remember to make excuses for.

I'm... not sure about the other thing. There were a lot of network people I never knew face-to-face, and probably a lot showed up while I was... out. But I don't remember anyone trying to talk to me about network stuff, if that's what you mean.

I see. Even if they did you would probably just think they were crazy.

What a pain. I wonder why it happens...

Yeah... there's a lot I'd like to know about all of this.

No, I just forgot. My dad's been talking about leaving town, but we haven't done it yet.
