Gabriel doesn't like lying, and if he promises this to Thorir then there may come a situation where he can't avoid it. But at the same time he doesn't want to put Thorir in a situation where he has to tell an even bigger lie to his wife, so in the end he nods. Hopefully he can avoid the situation where he might have to lie.
