(no subject)

Who: Reilanin, Robert, Nathaniel, Arlene, Nick
When: Backdated to the evening of January 30th
Where: The abandoned subways!
What: Just checkin' things out.
Warnings?: None! ...yet?

She waited nearby the entrance, sitting sideways on her scooter with her helmet in her hands, dressed much more lightly than seemed necessary for how cold it was this time of year- a light jacket better suited to spring, no gloves, and even that seemed to give her a slight, feverish flush to her face. She wore her red scarf despite that- it was the identifying factor she'd given the others, though in retrospect she could have just mentioned the scooter.

She glanced at her watch. She felt so scattered these days, unable to focus on anything for too long without getting distracted, without thinking about other things. Stress wasn't usually a problem for her. Unfortunately she still wasn't admitting to herself that becoming a werewolf was beyond any normal amount of stress.

A breath in, a breath out, trying to settle her nerves, ears and nose picking up everything in her vicinity. It was tempting to jump the gun and head down by herself, but safety in numbers and all that. Had Nick gone down?... she might be the only one who knew where they were going. She'd wait.

Nathaniel certainly had no idea where he was going. Even finding the subway entrance had been enough of a challenge - he wasn't one for directions or maps. Still, he was there now.

He halted some distance away from the subway entrance, tapping his cane against the ground uncertainly. He recognised that young lady, didn't he? From the shop? What in blazes was she doing there? If she kept loitering, he'd be bound to miss the person in the red scarf he was supposed to be meeti--

Oh.

Well. This was unexpected. Nathaniel strode towards her, trying to hide any lingering surprise in favour of projecting his usual lofty demeanour.

"Good evening. As far as evenings spent rooting out mysteries in subways go, I suppose."

Subtle.

By the time he's actually at the designated subway station, Holloway is actually a little tired. Par the course when your primary method of getting around a major metropolitan area is to fling yourself off the roofs and walls of buildings. He tried to come looking like he was a person who at least had a modicum of his shit together at least, and is looking around for a person in a red scarf when he sees her.

And some other guy? Holloway wonders for a moment if he's in on the network, then figures that it makes sense that he would be, because who the hell else would come here. It's an abandoned subway and neither of them look like teenagers up to shenanigans, which is more than he can say for himself. He walks up to the both of them looking for all the world like the most casual guy on the face of the planet.

"So is this where we're meeting to get up to some sleuthing or..."

Arlene wound up passing by the station a couple times before she spotted the group gathering out front and realized she was in the right place. She tried to make it look like she knew what she was doing, straightening up and putting on a confident smile as she approached.

"Hi, guys. We waiting on anyone else?"

And that one more shows up at a light jog, coming to a stop next to Reilanin as he joins the group. "As far as I know, all the snakes died with Proud."

He scans the small group, looking both for any sign of familiar faces, and to see if any of them register at all on his 'not-human' detection sense, or whatever the hell it is, before he looks back at Reilanin. "I'm going to guess this means I'm the last one to show up?"
twelfthspark: ([:o] so what's it gonna take?)

"So... no introductions, then," Arlene said with just a hint of a whine coloring her voice. The unfamiliar faces (except for "I Hate Computers" guy- what did they need with a creaky old man for this, anyway?), the dropping of names, the casual mention of super senses: all served to drive in that she was the New Girl here. It left her feeling awkward, out of place, feelings that had never suited her well.

She'd come prepared with a flashlight of her own, which she switched on before following Reilanin into the dark.

Nick nods back at Reilanin, giving her a smile before he goes quiet again to listen. He doesn't have a flashlight on him - his light is equipped on his gun, and he doesn't want to just pull it out while they're standing on the sidewalk.

Instead, he falls in along next to the girl with her own flashlight, the one who'd asked about introductions.

"I'm Nick," he comments as they walk. "And it makes me feel a little better that you mentioned introductions, by the way, I don't know anyone here but Rei."

Introductions. Wonderful. He lets out a sigh.

"Mr. Mithryn."

No first names here. Only old men sounding very unconcerned about being sociable. Nathaniel produces his own flashlight from his coat and uses it to peer into the gloom as he follows along. He's read up on Proud and understands why he'd been in hiding down here, but it's still a little disappointing to see how completely mundane the place is. At least so far.

Arlene smiled at Nick, a little more relaxed for hearing that.

"I'm Arlene."

As they walked, she made a point of aiming her flashlight beam into the especially dark corners. One such sweep surprised a rat, sending it skittering across their path towards a new hiding place; Arlene let out a startled gasp that she desperately hoped no one heard, and walked a little faster to stick closer to the group. Rei's apparent nerves might be rubbing off on her a little (even if for different reasons.)
