Ah, so... Something a bit unpleasant happened a while ago while I was helping out a friend here on the network. That is to say, not in the actual helping out - though it got a bit dramatic there for a moment - but I got another of those pulse-thingies back.

[An off-screen sigh, and then Fay sits down in front of the camera. Notice anything different? Well, probably if you've ever seen him before. He's wearing some cloth over his left eye.]

Or rather, one of those pulse-thingies took something from me. My eye, to be precise.

[He's still smiling, but it's clearly more a reflex than anything, because he certainly doesn't look happy.]

The vampire thing seems to compensate a bit for the loss, but I'm still not jumping for joy, you know? I should've expected it, considering I remember someone eating it, but... well, it's not the sort of thing you can prepare for.

So I'm just wondering... I mean, the whole point with these things has seemed to me that we're still supposed to get things we didn't have before, not... lose things that are kind of useful to have, right? So has this happened to anyone else?

Well, I mean... they might be a really nice person in this life, even if they were scary and gross before, right? So we should probably just be prepared to beat them up if they seem like they wanna make a snack of someone's body parts.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, apparently my boyfriend used to kill a lot of people in his previous life, and possibly he was abusive too, but he ain't in this life and anyone trying to beat him up would have to go through me. So it's probably best to keep the witch hunting to a minimum.

...Should I know what I blood key is? [Yeah, he's been actively trying to stay out of the loop because everything is freaking him out, what of it?]

Wow, yeah, I'd be pretty worried too if... you know, my family wasn't in Texas and all. But if they go after my boyfriend's family... well, they've got a death wish, and I'm only happy to oblige.

[He sighs.] We should have something in place to keep people's families safe, leastways if they live close to here.

Well, that's what I mean. We should have some way of keeping an eye on those families that live here. I ain't saying we should be following 'em everywhere, that's a bit creepy, but maybe some way of keeping watch close where they live. [Another sigh.] I ain't good with making up clever plans, though, it just feels like something should be done.

Probably a good idea. I mean, I ain't saying we should all be dumb enough to just share our family's adresses over the network with whoever, 'cause we don't know how long it'll be safe. But keeping an eye out for each other might be clever.

There sure seems to be some crazy people about half the time, so that sounds like a wise choice.

And in times like this, it's important to pick those kind of people and keep them close anyway, Can't fight all battles alone.
