town meeting, alien breaking hoa rules

What: The Numbers discuss how to go about addressing the alien in the farmhouse. Nothing could go wrong, certainly?

"Yeah, I remembered stuff before other-me ended up on ur, Earth way after I remembered him being-ing there for a while. If there's a pattern, I haven't figured it out yet."

He's starting to think there isn't, except for whatever order will mess with their minds the most.

The wolf makes a half-hearted snap in Nick's direction, but he's really too taken up with changing back into human form to worry too much about prey. It's half reflex and half wary fear at someone with a weapon close to him while he's vulnerable.

Shortly after, though, he no longer has a muzzle, and he's just a man with lots of broken bones and no clothing lying on Elian's kitchen floor, panting and looking very dazed. The whole process winds up taking about a minute and a half.

"It's a can of worms, I swear. Maybe things will make sense someday. Hopefully, we aren't going to regret it."

Shaking his head, Julien leans to the side and snags a cube of cheese from a platter. "But that's a pretty depressing topic to get on, isn't it?"

The snap makes him hesitate another few moments, but before long, he moves in to touch him. When the muzzle goes, so does the rolling pin; Nick pushes it out of the way, sure he won't need it anymore.

He hovers for a moment, unsure what to do. But he's worried about having hit Lyall in the head, and that dazed look isn't helping at all. After a moment's debate, he cups Lyall's head, running his fingertips gently along his scalp to feel for any bumps or softer spots or hell, any bleeding. He's not exactly sure what he'll find, since he doesn't know if the transformation is completely over, but at least if he starts looking, he isn't just sitting there.

Danny did notice Ravi fiddling with something in hand, but he wasn't quite sure what, not from outside the car at this angle.

He tears his attention away once Ravi steps out, though. "Uhh...yeah. Yeah, better to have it blow up here where nothing's around than in a house full of people."

There is a bit of a lump starting to raise, but it's not really as much of a problem as the little fractures in his skull still knitting themselves together again. " ... ow," is his eloquent first response to... pretty much all of that. " ... shit," is his second response, as he realizes, dazedly, what he just went through, an hears the crashing and screaming in the rest of the huose. "How did... what... what's going on." It's less a question than a statement, at least in tone.

"It's been making-ing more and more sense the more I find out, so I'm not really worried."

It's hard to depress Alex, but possible impending doom will do it. He takes another few sweets from the table as an antidote, and crunches a snickerdoodle thoughtfully.

"Peep, people keep asking about that kind of thing on the network. I don't think I'm going-ing to be sorry? Assuming we'd be getting pulse-zuh and all this would be going down no matter what, I'd have to try to find out what it's all about."

Not Julien's preferred food. He's more of a fan of salty and savory than sweet, though he won't say no to that, either. Fruit and little sandwiches are good for now.

Well, he won't confess a fear about losing himself to his other, he decides, so Julien shrugs. "That's a good point. Sometimes the mindbending stuff helps, too. It's more that if there's a lot of memories and things, there's bound to be others too."

He casts a glance at each of them as they answer, closer to understanding, but still feeling lost.

"They shouldn't be coming. I put him under. Whatever-- whatever prompted them to come first-- he shouldn't be doing it anymore."

Ravi jolted to a stop, freezing for a moment as the new information processed. The snakes were there to protect Proud. That meant Proud needed to feel like there was something he had to be protected from. If he was under Alex's trance, no feeling threatened, no protection necessary, no snakes.

Proud could not be kept under Alex's hypnosis indefinitely, so that was not a viable long-term solution. It was an impediment to the long-term solution.

Ravi turned to face Alex. "We are trying to get rid of the snakes. They need to come." So Alex was going to have to let his hold on Proud go once they were a safe enough distance out into the middle of nowhere.

He glanced to Kotetsu, motioned for him to follow, and turned to resume leading the way. They could argue about this if Alex wanted, but Ravi was intent on making sure they did so where they needed to be.

Kotetsu hesitates a moment as Ravi motions him to follow, looking between the nurse and Alex.

"Do you think he knows where the snakes are now? If they're still in the house, we gotta get 'em out."

"There's always a chance," she said. "But if you follow the online guides, it's pretty low. I mean, some of the stuff I do COULD brick it, but I also have three fourths of a PhD in programming, so I'm still less likely than your average person..."

"Maybe the peanuts part. But, not about the stomping." It's really quite simple. Just let loose elephants and let it deal with itself.

"It would kind of suck if you couldn't go outside. You couldn't go do something fun like the arcade or something." It was seemingly pretty simplistic to Henry, but his view on things were still pretty much a kid's. Which it should be. There was just one thing Henry felt the need to ask: "By the way, who are you anyways?"

It's still something Nick's worried about, even if Lyall is talking now. He stops pressing at that 'ow,' but doesn't pull his hands away, just kind of... keeps cradling Lyall's head in his lap. "Some of Proud's snakes crashed the meeting, and you, uh, wolfed out. Are you okay? Do you remember who am I?"

Aximili-Crazy-Long-Name seems like a decent guy (or whatever) in everything Alex knows about him so far, except for maybe taking things a little too seriously. Still, ending up too much like him isn't something Alex worries about.

"Other-zuh? What do you mean?"

A fluid shrug. "Just that if I keep getting pulses I'm not going to be able to pass for human anymore. Pretty sure the Apostle isn't a shapeshifter."

It would be soon. He'd had that premonition since December - he didn't have many more things to change.

"Pretty much, yeah." Hajime was perfectly willing to roll with kid logic. He had a soft spot for kids, as much as he might have denied otherwise. "I'm Hajime. And I could ask you the same question."

"Oh, man, that's. Gotta be rough, ruf-fuh."

That feels really inadequate, and Alex feels the familiar twinge of guilt that comes with knowing how easy he has things compared to one of his friends (it's usually Anthony causing said twinge).

"At lee, least you're not alone? That probably doesn't help much, huh."

"Misery shared is misery halved?" He says it dryly, with a hint of a smile. "Sometimes I think if it happens I'll just go public somewhere, get on TV. Make it hard to be disappeared. I am way too extrovert to stay inside and never talk to most people."

Danny follows behind the others as they go.

"But then...how do we do that?"

"Are you sure?" If you are, Phillip will probably believe him. Because it's Phillip. But he thinks this is a very wishy-washy distinction.

Granny Ivy is side by side with Arthur when the snake impacts. She is quite sure her ribs have never hurt as much as they do now. Never the less, she shoves the snake off of them.

"Not funny!"

"Yeah, I don't think I could just, like, go into hiding-ing either." He knows there's something he doesn't know yet about his other self--OK, there are lots of things he doesn't know, but he especially doesn't know why he lived in someone's barn on Earth. Is the reason something Alex is going to have to deal with, too?

"But I think other-me had to."

Julien nods. "The Apostle's not unfamiliar with, uh, subterfuge. I seem to be turning into a ninja." He snorts, amused with himself. "Or, well, I move more quietly and people don't notice me like they used to."
