are you guys like people's spirit companions or something? do you have telepathic links to your bonded humans? what's it like having paws or hooves, can you type with those??

i've never seen a talking animal before so mainly i'm just curious!

[The lad switches to video, she gets her poise in place, he introduces himself - and then on with the questions, a couple she'll get the answers ready for but then my all those words are getting a little overwhelming -]

Ohh now now one at a time - [Shakes some of the uncontrolled pitch out of her tone with a quick giggle - and dives into her mellow voice on cue with that.] - if you please~! And trust me the pleasure's all mine, Russel, darling.

Oh--oh! Sorry. [He sits up straight and takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly. calmed, he tries again]

[Ears flick. She straightens herself out for no better reason than that she can along with him, just a little - leans her head back, blinks slowly.

And - well rats how can she answer that?] ...W~well, I can think of absolutely nothing else that compares. Buuut I'm - sure you can imagine why! [Playful head-tilt, pony grin - and then picks up speed.] Now - being a talking pony on the other hoof I must admit has its perks and drawbacks.

Now obviously finally acquiring a way with words was a fantastic relief - why, I was [Jabs a hoof at her recording surface a few times.] tapping in to our network for weeks before then! - but of course we have this entire thing to keep secret and, well, I have my masters - living in the house right by my stable, able to come out to refresh the hay at any old time and catch me speaking to my water trough...

Oh, oh! What did people sound like to you before you learned how to talk? [THE AGE-OLD QUESTION: can animals understand what people are saying?]

Neither would I, to tell you the truth! It first happened quite by accident... [Hoof still within the frame - flicking a couple of times along the lines of the way someone might flick their wrist - but, now, moving on! Light but theatrical "Eh-hem!"]

Now, I can only speak English; I can only assume that before I picked up this most convenient fluency it was close enough to one hearing any old language they can't understand. I picked up some of the obvious bits and pieces... Didn't have quite the voice to use them for myself, of course.

Looking back I like to think I understood humans at least as well as my cat friend understands me. ...Cat friend made through a so-called pulse, by the way - I can't say the dear's one of "us."
