When: First week of school
Where: some hallway or something in Locke High
What: Danny upholds his reputation as an easy target and gets....Beat up.


[A new school year always meant spending the first several days of school staring intently at a new schedule trying to figure out where to go, when, and whether or not to run there. Danny knew the school layout, of course, but he didn't yet know where his classes this year were supposed to be, or at what times, so when one class ended, he would pull out his schedule and glue his eyes to it as he walked to the next. Eventually he'd memorize it and be able to look where he was going, but not today.

Unfortunately, today just happened to be the day that fate decided he should bump into someone while he was distracted. Whoops.

Danny stumbles back and falls flat on his ass.]

A-ah!! Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I-I didn't mean--!

[The first week of back to school is always a depressing time for Beat. No more summer, relaxing and riding his skateboard. Now is the time for boring classes with jerk teachers, and soon enough he'll be constantly nagged by his parents. The only thing he's looking forward to is football practice, so he decided to wear his letterman and hook up with his friends from the team as soon as possible. Anything else will just worsen his mood. Like being suddenly bumped into, for instance! It was a hard bump, so Beat drops his textbooks as Danny falls over.]

Ugh, what the hell- watch where you goin'!

[he snaps, and bends over - it's apparent he's more concerned with picking up his stuff than helping up the space cadet that crashed into him. He just wants to move on, and he hopes with that, the other boy will do the same.]

I-I'm really sorry, I just wasn't looking, I--

[He notices that Beat is picking up some books, so he scrambles over to try and help, to make it up to him. He picks up the textbook from health class--the same one that Danny himself has.]

Here, let me help, I--oh, y-you're taking Health with Mrs. Greenberg too?

[respecting]

Yo, I got - [this, he was going to say, but Danny picked it up rather quickly. Beat squints a bit at the question]

Yeah?

[Although he's not sure what it matters. Beat's in great shape, why's he gotta take a class on health? Actually, in his mind there's an excuse for why he doesn't need to take every class. Still, he'll hold out his hand and put up with Danny's rambling until he has his stuff back]

[With that confirmation, Danny suddenly realizes who he's talking to. He sits across the room from him in class, but he recognizes the voice and everything now, and he remembers hearing his name during attendance.]

D-Daiku-sen-josi, right? [He holds out the book, a little like a peace offering.] Sorry, I--I just wasn't looking where I was going, so...

[Well. He gave the name a good shot. Gold star for effort?]

[respecting]

[he thinks he hears you saying the D word. He's gonna try to stop you there]

Bwaaah! Don't even-

[But he said it anyway. Alas, there is no gold star for Danny. Beat hates when people say his name, but that... is not even close to it. Is he making fun of him? His temper rises and he doesn't even see the peace offering. Before he knows it, he's impulsively swung a punch.]

Uggh, just shut up! You're annoying the hell out of me!

[gogoghostpowers]

[OH MY GOD IT'S A FIST

You'd think with all the times he's been knocked around, Danny would learn to dodge some of the punches, but you would be wrong. Every punch thrown at him is like the very first, causing his mind to seize up and keep him frozen in place until the sting of the punch snaps him out of it.

Danny stumbles back and loses his balance. Just as he's about to fall over, though, he hits the lockers to the side of him with his temple. TWO HITS IN ONE SHOT, OH YEAH, U GO BEAT.]

Ow! W-what was that for?!

[respecting]

I TOLD you not to say it! I fuckin' hate that!

[and really he was in such a foul mood that it just sorta happened.

but now he finally remembers Danny still has his book so he's just gonna try to grab it back. It probably looks like he's coming to hit him again though]

[Oh god he's winding up again, he's gonna throw another punch. This time Danny doesn't freeze, thankfully. This time, his mind goes into overdrive and leads him to turn around and run.

He doesn't even realize he's still holding Beat's textbook as he bolts.]
