I guess none of us are pros really. All of this is so new for everyone, and I guess there's nothing we can look at for guidance. Or if there is, or if others are experiencing this whole thing somewhere else, we don't know of them and can't find them.
At least when it comes to mines, there are guides about this stuff. If you google "Urban exploration" it has a lot of supply lists. Reminders to bring things like: Flashlight and flashlight back ups. Glowsticks if you want to mark places and want to leave a light source behind. Cellphone, though I think it would be easier to just use the network since you won't get service underground. Map, has anyone checked the library for the mine's blue prints? People used to use it as an actual mine, so of course there's going to be maps of the place. Gloves and hard toe'd shoes; important. Rope, for climbing things or anything else you'd need. There's that special army rope that's super small but Water, small snacks to keep up your energy. Knives to cut rope or clothing if someone gets injured or stuck. First aid kit, maybe something that could be used as a stretcher if someone breaks a leg. Things to use as splints in case of other emergencies. Weapons? I guess? I don't really know what to advise for weapons, since I'm not really familiar with this stuff. Masking tape to chart your path-- I bet the mines will get confusing, so if you leave some along the walls, you'll know where you've been. Helmets, if you can get them-- even a bike helmet would help. In case rocks fall or there are any low ceilings. Whistles or something that, if you guys get separated, you can use to find each other in the mines-- I don't think the network would help as much as actually making a sound you can follow. Watches to make sure you don't stay down there for too long; make sure to come up before sunset. Something to detect gas in the air so you don't all suffocate, and make sure you don't bring anything that'll cause sparks that might ignite gas in the air. If you can, bring oxygen canisters? In case you get stuck somewhere and there's no oxygen. Maybe if you can, get some disposable masks so you don't inhale too much coal or whatever they were mining. That's especially important if anyone has asthma.
Make sure to get a list of everyone's health problems so you'll know everyone's limits. Make sure to have people familiar with First Aid in the mine, but also have some waiting outside in case anything goes horribly wrong. Check the weather-- if it's raining, some areas might flood or might have a rock slide. Tetanus shots. Super important.
That's all I can think of right now. Does it look okay?
