It's a big enough pew and she picked a spot close enough to the middle of it that there was plenty of space for the two of them. She doesn't complain.

She'd been to church a few times in her life. One foster family in particular had felt it was important and to be fair, she had learned something from it. Charity was smiled upon, rewarded and that family, people who took in children with no place else to go, were treated with respect there. Yeah, she had learned something alright. That was how she learned that everybody had an angle.

"I don't know. I was just thinking that maybe we'd find something in their homes. Work they brought home, notes or... or something." A weak point, leverage. Even people like this had to have families, right? As much as the thought of actually going there made her feel a little sick.
