Settling into the seat of Tadashi's car, Kenji shifted around a bit, trying to find a comfortable position. There wasn't one, really, so he finally gave up and leaned his head back against the headrest, closed his eyes, and tried to come to grips with what had just happened. Nope, his brain was still refusing to work, and trying to kick-start it into action only made his head hurt worse than it already did.
"Thought it was you back there, dude," he said a few moments later, in reply to Tadashi's question. "So I headed over." A small bubble of weak laughter broke from him, "Wasn't you. And when I tried to get outta there, the damned thing hit me with a mountain or something."
Pausing a moment, he swallowed, grimacing a bit at the dry, scratchy feeling in his throat. It felt as if he'd eaten about a gallon of sand, and he would kill for a soda right about now.
"I tried to blow the bastard's head off, like back in the mine," he continued, "but...didn't work like before. Something happened to my arm..." Scowling slightly, he glanced down at the arm in question as if he expected it to have changed into that alien appendage again, but fortunately it still looked the same as usual. "Hurt like a bitch, too."
Sighing wearily, he shook his head, "Everything's kinda a blur after that. Guess you must've showed up about then--thanks, by the way."
