what: Winter's little shopping trip may have turned into something much, much larger than she'd intended.

The morning sun was surprisingly warm on Winter's face as she stood in front of the school she'd never visited before. Her gaze traveled over the walls and surveyed the buildings, as she gripped a small messenger bag (slung over her shoulder) in one hand and Raquel in the other arm. The streets were, aside from her, largely empty, and she looked around nervously to keep an eye out for her new friend.

So why was she out here at this ungodly hour, for most teenagers at least? Well... that's a funny story. After all, when you're meeting someone, it's probably a good idea to know when you're going to meet them. Since they never agreed on a time, and Winter was too embarrassed by that failure to try and ask her again over the network, she just decided she'd deal with being early. So Winter arrived shortly after the dawn, and she's been waiting out here since. Hopefully Regina won't arrive too late...

It was a while befpre Regina eventually made her way out of the school. The Starling-Chandler was closed for summer, of course, but Regina was boarding even over the holiday. And that meant she could sleep in. No classes, and nobody cared how late she slept or what. Then she could eat a leisurely breakfast. Text some of her friends. Shower. Get dressed in something casual. And only then did she finally make her way outside.

She gave a wave to the girl standing out there. "Right on time!" she said with a big, innocent smile. "Winter, right?" Who else would be standing outside the school?

The bright color caught her eye before the wave and voice did; she turned to face Regina upon her approach, relief clear in her smile. "Y-yes, that's me. Good... I think it's s-still morning?"

Regina paused a bit at Winter's remark. Then, with practiced ease, her smartphone was out. "Nnnnnnope. It's just past noon." She also saw that she had a new email, so she clicked on her phone's touchscreen a few times to check. She already had the phone out, right? Might as well.

Junk mail. Didn't they have filters for that?

Anyway- "So I'm Regina." Obviously. "Hey, let's exchange phone numbers real quick." Because priorities, she has them.

Winter glances at her watch and confirms for herself it is, in fact, no longer morning, sighing slightly. So she'd only been out here on alert for... three hours? Oh well, nothing for it. Getting out a flip phone from her bag, she nods. "S-sure, we can do that. Um..." She punches a few buttons, and looks expectantly at Regina, waiting for numbers. Well, her other numbers... actually... "A-and maybe we should trade our network numbers too... just in case?"

"Oh, wow!" Regina, however, seemed distracted. By Winter's phone. "You still have a flip phone? I thought they stopped making those a long time ago." No, Regina, they didn't....

"Aaaanyway, my numbers are-" Insert numbers here.

"I d-don't need anything more advanced than that. And... yes, they still m-make these. This isn't... very old."

All the same, she adds both sets of numbers to her phone. "A-are... you ready to go?"

Regina scowled at Winter, looking upset. And perhaps a bit pouty. "No!" With a dramatic point of the finger, she added, "You still need to give me your number!"

A beat.

"Numbers."

"O-oh... right. Um..." Winter forks over her phone number and her network number - between the two, it shouldn't be hard for Regina to get a hold of her later. At all.

"S-sorry, I didn't think about that. Now that t-that's done... are we ready?" She'd literally been wasting daylight for a few hours now, not that she could tell Regina that, and she wanted to do something.

Regina seemed almost offended. "Hmph! Well, you apologized, so I suppose I can let it slide." She still had her phone out, and she began to dial a number. But then she stopped. "How did you get here, anyway?"

"I walked," she says, like it's the simplest thing in the world. "I d-don't live close by, so..."
