[Closed]

Who: Julien [personal profile] espigeonage and Miranda [personal profile] vanisland
Where: Some pastoral region of the LCU campus
What: Vermini swaaarm!
When: July 13, early afternoon

There were just a few scattered high clouds today, and the sun was punishing. Julien was out with darker lenses clipped onto his glasses, sunblock, and a short-brimmed hat; most of the few people he saw outside were either similarly equipped or looked like they wished they were. The drone of riding lawnmowers could be heard clearly, although none were in sight just now.

He'd come out here to picnic with a friend after their summer class let out, which had been pleasant after they'd found a tree to shelter under. With that done he meandered the paths of the nearly empty campus alone, thinking about getting back to LockCon, vaguely wanting to break out into a run despite the heat and a full stomach.

Of course, slightly preoccupied or not Julien smiled whenever he encountered someone and thought they looked his way. He was like that.

Sorry this took so long to get to. Ugh.

It would just so happen that someone nearby had picked a very good day to familiarize herself with the campus. Oh, sure, she could have taken a guided tour (although that might be odd for a graduate student), but that meant extended face-to-face interactions with people. Those never ended well. Plus, they would inevitably divert attention away from something that actually mattered.

In short, Miranda liked it this way. It was almost a shame LCU couldn't be like this all the time.

Still, it was beginning to get into the hottest hours of the day, and the fact that she was wearing all black didn't help a whole lot. Just as that started to occupy her mind, however, someone else walked into her field of vision. She couldn't help looking at him, given the lack of movement from everything else.

There are just some things about being human you can't avoid, she thought.

"..."

For a moment, she considered just walking by.

But no. This seemed like the kind of person that would just tag alongside her if she did that.

"No. I'm wandering around now so I don't get lost later."

"Well, it's better that than one of those huge things you can't get to fold properly. Still, no point if the text is unreadable."

She doesn't notice and begins waking away, not turning to look at him as she finishes, "I think I'm good for now."
