So I decided that amnesia sucks and I'm done with it.

[Well, that's... one way to announce being back.]

It's no fun at all. It seems neat and all in stories, but at least in stories you don't forget only the exciting stuff.

So you know what, I'm just not doing that anymore. I don't know how anyone else puts up with it. No more amnesia for me. It was so boring, I'm pretty sure I willed it to stop.

[Claire, that's not how that works... He actually sounds like he believes it, too.]

Anyway, looks like I've missed a lot 'round here! Gonna need to catch up again. But hey, I got plenty of free time.

[Lily blinks. She looks surprised, but also tired. These two are unrelated but still noticeable.]

Well, wasn't expecting to see you again. Are you still in Vegas?

Yeah, I am. It's where I live and work, after all, even if business hasn't been as great lately.

...You look like you've seen better days. Rough time?

Well, glad to see you made it through rising mountains and giant monster crabs unscathed, then.

...more than a little though, yeah. Still... not as much as other people, so I guess I can't complain...

It'll take more than that to get rid of me.

...Last I checked, it ain't a contest. What, only the person out there with the worst life is allowed to complain now? C'mon.

[She blinks a little.]

I guess... when you put it like that, you might have a point. [A sigh.] It's just been a rough couple of months. For a lot of people.

Maybe I am lucky to have missed out on some things. Feels like cheating, though. Skipping out on the difficult stuff everyone else's apparently been dealing with, I mean.

You gonna be okay?

[She smiles weakly.] Still, it's good to see more faces on here, all the same. We need whatever help we can get now.

[There's a small, hesitant breath, and she manages a nod.] ...I'm managing.

Don't know how much help I'm gonna be, but I can do my best. So far I haven't really got anything too great from this whole other self thing. Just some acrobatics.

[Which are fun, but. Not the most useful skill.]

...Strong girl, aren't you? Well, that's good. One step in the right direction.

Well, as they say - every little bit can help. Just having another head out there, and another brain to pick... that can help a lot.

[She pauses a little at the comment, then gives a little shrug.] I wonder if I am sometimes, but... It's also one step at a time, I realize.

That I can handle! Not like I've got anything better to do, anyway.

You're just too close to everything, that's all. Messes with your perspective. You're gonna get there.

Really, I'd think business can't be that slow with all that's going on in Vegas right now.

[It's in a somewhat amused tone, more than she's shown a lot of to many people lately. She smiles a little nervously at the mention of being "too close to everything," however.]

Yeah... yeah, I guess I have been, in a way.

There's not much out there that can slow this city down, yeah! Really, I think the only reason the place I work has been less than great is that we lost a bunch of people who got spooked a few months ago and left. Still don't really get that myself.

Yeah, that can happen. Taking a step back might be a good call if things get too rough.

Evidently it would take the city being literally wiped out at this rate, and even then I think you'd just find people building back over it the next week.

[You know, kind of like what basically happened.]

I've taken enough of a step back at this point though, I think. I need to... try and put my foot forward again.

I'm thinking more like the entire state getting flattened. That may actually keep us down for a whole two week! It sure wouldn't make me run.

[It's fine to joke, but let's not tempt fate. Because at this rate that may actually happen.]

Well, good to hear.

[Even still, it manages to bring out a slight laugh. She's not done a terrible lot of that lately.]

Well, at the very least, it's good to know you wont be trying to go anywhere, anyhow.
