Who: Melissa and whoever wants to celebrate her birthday!!
When: July 15th
Where: A private room in a bar for the grown up party; Karl's apartment and
What: It's Melissa's birthday! TIME TO PARTY.
Warnings: Stupid, drunk adults. And Melissa in general.

[Melissa usually tries really hard not to focus on the fact that there really are advantages to dating her boss. Mostly because that’s really goddamn weird, when she thinks about it. But said advantages can be nice from time to time, especially when it ends in said boss giving her the day off without her having to ask for it.

So what is she going to do? For the first time in a while, she’s going to not worry about having to hunt anyone down on her birthday. She’s planning on having fun.]

Sheila has a drink, herself. Something offensively pink and garnished with fruit and a little umbrella. She comes up behind Melissa and claps her on the back. "There's the birthday girl! Having fun, Melly?"

It's hard to see if she's flushed through the makeup, but from the way she's acting, tipsy is probably a good assumption to make.

Tipsy is fine! There's a reason her niece wasn't allowed to come to this party. Melissa would be quite disappointed if people weren't tipsy. She grins at Sheila, raising her wine glass in greeting. "Yup! You look like you might be, too~"

"Sure am! I reeeeally haven't been able to get out enough lately, what with the whole green thing, you know? I was about due for a party." Sheila eyes the currently abandoned Karaoke machine. "You know, I don't think I've shee- whoops, seen one of those since I was a kid!"

"Better than me. Pretty sure I'm always due for a party." She likes to get out, after all. Though that's been reduced greatly recently. She's not thinking about that right now- she is at a party, after all.

Melissa glances over at the karaoke machine too, grinning. "You gonna try it out?"

"Pity we have to be responsible some of the time, or we'd never bother stopping." Sheila took a long, dainty sip of her drink, eyeing the stage. "As long and impressive as my many talents are, singing iiiiisn't exactly on the list." She was so modest.

"Doesn't matter! Karaoke's no fun if you're good at it." Ok, well that's a lie. A certain two cops having a sing off at their last meeting/party was pretty goddamn entertaining, and they were both quite good. But that's a detail she'll leave out for now.

"Well... maybe if you go first." Sheila nudges Melissa towards the stage. "This was your idea, right? Soooo show us yer stuff, birthday girl!"

"I feel like since it's my birthday I shouldn't have to." But she's already moving towards it. It's all in good fun, and though she's not Karl she hardly sucks. "But fine. You better do it next."

Sheila gets kind of a distracted, unfocused look, tell-tale of a new echo. "Whoa!" She reaches over to grab Melissa's arm before she can get all the way up there. "Juuuust checking. This isn't going to inspire you to attempt world conquest through pop stardom or anything... right?"

Melissa turns and just stares at her for a minute, trying to figure out if she heard that correctly before answering. "...Sheila, what the hell?" she ends up settling on, "No. No it is not."

Sheila has the decency to look embarrassed, and takes a big gulp of her drink in the hopes that it'll make things less... awkward. It doesn't. "I said I was just checking! It just... seems like something that might... I dunno. Happen. Sometimes. To some people."

She's starting to really hope that this Drakken person never shows up here. What a piece of work.

"Nobody I know, I hope." It was probably an Echo, but that doesn't make it any less weird. Well, you know what will? Distraction! So Melissa will just go ahead up to the karaoke machine and flip through the options until she finds a decent one. She's not a bad singer by any means, but she's certainly not taking something like this seriously.

"God, I hope not. From what I've remembered, the guy was a total loser." Sheila rolls her eyes a bit. Then leaned back against a chair and watched, sipping her drink. She'd need to be more drunk than this if she was going up next.

"From what you just told me, I'm sure he is." Seriously. Karaoke inspired rise to rule the world? What the actual fuck.

Still, such a weird conversation is not going to stop her from her karaoke triumph, and as soon as she's done she'll look expectantly at Sheila.

Sheila has gotten through the better part of her cocktail by that point, and looks a bit more prepared to make a fool of herself. "Weeeell, here goes. Got any requests, birthday girl?" She hops up on the stage, grabbing the mic with only a bit of a wobble.

"Pick whatever you'd like, doll," Melissa grind, raising her glass of wine in toast to the woman about to look utterly ridiculous. To be fair, who knows how much they'll even remember.

Sheila raised her own glass - which sloshed unsteadily - and decided that if she was going to do this, she might as well do it right.

Which is how she ended up belting out I Will Survive in a very enthusiastic, but not exactly tuneful, rendition.

Melissa will clap loudly once Sheila is done, grinning madly. God, she should have gotten that on video. "That was awesome." A little painful, but the hilarity made up for it.

"'course it was awesome! I'm awesome!" Sheila grins at her as she hops off the stage. Somehow managing not to fall over or spill anything. Hey, those new reflexes sure come in handy! "We shoul' do this like... like every Friday or somethin'."

"Every Friday? Dunno, then it might not be special. But maybe some. We'll see." She grins right back, looking around to see if there's someone else they can shove on stage.

"Tha's true. I'll prolly get sick of it if I did that." Sheila finishes her drink. "I'm gonna get another, you want anything?"

"No, I'm good for right now. Thanks though." She's trying to stay reasonably sober- and by reasonably she means enough to at least be able to walk so Karl doesn't have to carry her.

"Well, just shout if you change your mind!" Sheila waves before heading - a little unsteadily - back over towards the bar.
