log: holly has questions

Who: Holly [keywarding] & Danny [gogoghostpowers]

Where: The park by her house; close to LCHS
What: Magic! Dance Magic Dance

For the past fifteen minutes Holly has sat on the top of this fairly large rock, kicking her legs out one at a time as she waits for Danny to get to the meeting spot.

Hopefully she gave a good enough of an explanation. It was kind of hard to give directions without really visible landmarks.

Playing with the necklace her staff now took the form as when she's not using it, she glances at her phone- maybe she should message him?

Danny shows up in human form with a slight hunch in his shoulders, uncertain and just a little concerned someone could see him here. If this had to do with powers, maybe it would've made more sense to show up as a ghost, but even if he could go invisible, Cure Phantom popping up from out of thin air might be more than a little conspicuous. So he made his way here as a typical human.

Once he gets within conversational distance of the rock, he speaks up. "H-hey--Holly, right?"

Just when she was thinking of sending him some sort of message, prefaced with apologies at her crappy directions he calls her name. Turning her head in his direction she smiles, "Yes- It's Holly. Danny, right?" She saw him at the library with Cat when Skyler had been turned into a hamster but she'd been a little panicky over how to turn him back to really remember if she'd even used the right name for him.

"Thanks for coming!" She chirps as she hops off the rock and steps forward to meet him. "I kind of ran out of options but thought I'd see if you could help.." If he couldn't help, she'd probably have to just post to the network about it.

"Sure, I can try." He stops walking and stands in place. "Uhh...what am I helping with, exactly?"

She'd mentioned something in her message to him, but it was kind of vague and he isn't really sure what it meant.

Digging through her bag, she pulls out her cards. She's stuck them in a small clothe case she'd found while out, it was for a larger cellphone than what she had so they just barely stayed together.

"It's this...." she draws her sentence out as she flips through the cards to finally pull out the one she wants. "Card, it says 'The Illusion' but the one time I've used it, it just turned into something other than what I wanted." She's not sure why which is what is frustrating.

"It doesn't have a form, like the others so I can't really... gauge it's emotions or what it wants me to do."

Danny moves closer to get a better look at the card.

"Uuuhhhh...huh. So...what?" He doesn't say it dismissively--he's genuinely confused about what it is he's supposed to do here. He doesn't have much experience with cards or their emotions (???) so he feels pretty bewildered right now.

"Oh um... I guess maybe just watch and see what happens? Maybe I just need someone else to look at it?" She asks, taking her necklace off as she speaks.

"... Um can you hold this for a second." She'll hold the card out to him until he hopefully takes it. She's not gotten very good at this summoning thing with full hands.

"Okay, sure." He still has no idea what's going on, but he's willing to cooperate. He takes the card and holds it up in one hand. "Now what?"

The moment he has the card, she says an incantation, something she'd literally just gotten back, the timing still feels off - like she's saying it too fast- but there's a bit of a uptake in the wind around them while the little necklace goes from a pendant to her staff. "Okay- um... just hold it for a second." Thankfully her magic isn't flashy, so in this little alcove the trees hide most of it.

Calling out the cards name, Holly points her staff at it in Danny's hands, the card disappears from Danny's hand with a flick of her staff, and sitting in front of them is exactly whatever Danny was thinking of at the time.

[[ooc: You can pick whatever you want, if he was hungry it might be the mascot of some food he likes, if he's scared it might be a monster he doesn't like, basically it takes on the form of whatever the person looking at it sees until Holly gets a handle on it.]]

"Uhhhhh..." Danny stares wide-eyed at the whole magical process as it takes place around him. He's never seen anything quite like this before, so he's not sure what exactly is happening or what to expect.

When it's over though, he brings the item up to his face and squints at it, making sure he isn't somehow misunderstanding whatever this is. "Why am I holding my math homework?"

"See! I just-" Sighing heavily, Holly swings her staff up to her shoulder and frowns at the homework. "I wanted it to be a hat!" She really has no idea what is going on here.

"Whatever I want it to be it always picks something else. I want a ball? It becomes a door, a mirror? Oh now it's a dog and I just have no idea what I'm doing wrong." She's frustrated, it's evident in how her voice raises and lowers with her sentences.

"Sorry, I know this probably doesn't make anymore sense to you but you could go through walls, I thought- maybe it'd work for you."

He's not quite getting it. His brow furrows as he stares at the math homework. "But I thought this was your power--or your card, anyway, whatever this is. Why would it be special for me?"
