Sixth Feather [Video]
[It's been a while since anyone heard from Rakka following her trip to the hospital. Given the suddenness of the illness and how badly it had hit her that time, it was possible they wouldn't hear from her in a long time.
But there she is one day, on the network. It's pretty obvious from the background behind her and the gown she was wearing that she's in a hospital room, the drone of medical equipment just barely hearable. Rakka looks, for lack of a better term, like shit. Her face is lacking in color, bags under her eyes say that she hasn't been sleeping, and every so often she seems to wince in pain. Oddly, it looks like she's laying on her stomach.]
I... wasn't sick. It wasn't an illness.
[A statement that took a while to get out. Rakka's voice was dry and quiet. She still looked afraid.]
W-when I got to the hospital the pain got worse and worse, and... and now I have these.
[She moved her phone upward, first showing the top of her head, with halo floating in full view - there was no way she could have hid it here - and pointed it over her shoulder.
Sticking out of her back, right above the shoulder blades, were a pair of wings. Their feathers were a light charcoal grey, blood stains still visible in them. Every so often they twitched involuntarily, leading to a slight sound of pain from Rakka. Slowly she brought the screen back to her face.]
They... they know now. They're going to tell my parents. I don't know what to do, I... I...
[She looks scared, very scared. ]
I... I need to hide. I don't think I should go home for a while.

They take a couple deep breaths before finally starting up the feed.]
If you're sure...
We can be there lickity-split.
You... you guys would help me like that?
You're our pal, after all!
And we have plenty of room here!
[Sort of.]
I guess... you guys could help. I c-could never repay you for this though.
[She could, and will try though. She is kind of rich.]
I'll try not to take up too much room.
Just leave it to us!
And we'll be there in a flash!
...T-thanks guys. I'll, uh, leave it to you then.
Re: [Video]
[They cut the feed and there's about ten minutes of nothing. Then a text pops up:]
Wait, do you need us to bust you out of the hospital for you?
[Text]
She has to think about that.]
Maybe? idk actually
[Text]
Okay, new plan. Do you know who is authorized to take you out of the hospital?
[Text]
the servants at the house for example but maybe I could say you were my guardians
[Text]

[If push comes to shove they can just skedaddle out of there.]
[Text] -> [Action]
[About 30 minutes pass.
Then a very confused nurse walks into Rakka's room.]
There's a man and a woman asking for you. They claim to be your guardians...?
[Action]
Yeah, that'll be them. I'll be down as soon as I can.
[Dismissing the nurse.... and then calling her back again to help her into her clothes, it takes a few minutes before Rakka manages to get down to the lobby where Isaac and Miria are. Her footsteps are a bit sluggish, and the bags under her eyes show how tired she really was. Even with her wings tenting the back of her shirt, she still wore her cap to hide her halo.]
[Action]
If they aren't the people you're waiting for, you can tell anyone as quick as you can. They seem... fishy.
[And she leaves it at that.
A few minutes later, the Dians look up from their waiting room magazine as Rakka enters. They show distinct concern at their buddy's appearance. She looks like she could really use another night in the hospital.
Still, they get up as quick as can be and move to support her, just in case she should stumble or fall. They also fail to notice the many stares from other civilians in the lobby.]
Hey, buddy.
How are you feeling?
[Action]
[She has to agree with that, no matter how strange it might be. Those two were certainly pieces of work. She wasn't even sure if this plan would work. It was the best they had, so it had to. She continued off, quietly saying to herself,]
But they're good people.
[Rakka does notice the stares. Some of them boring holes into the two adults, the rest burrowing into her and her strange appearance. It was everything she didn't want and she wanted out of here as soon as possible. She could already crawl in a hole and hide forever.]
Pretty shitty, but better than before.
[A shrug. The swearing was appropriate after what happened, right? She gave them a little smile to try and quell their worries.]
[Action]
That's good to hear!
Come on, let's get you to our house. Then you can do whatever you want.
[They move to the exit, again missing any strange looks. Within another minutes, they've arrived at their incredibly creepy van. Not that they've ever noticed.
Isaac chooses to take the backseat while Miria drives. They gesture a little to the shotgun seat, staying on standby until Rakka's safely and (mostly) comfortable in the car.]
[Action]
She follows them out to the vehicle, still noticing how creepy it looked - certainly something you would pick a kid up in right? It took a moment but the newly-winged girl was able to slide into her seat without much difficulty. Although getting comfortable was another thing entirely.]
[Action]
After about a block:]
So, what do you like to eat?
[Action]
W-what?
[Action]
For the next time we go to the grocery store.
[Action]
[Right, this was what people who looked after kids generally did. She'd forgotten.]
Uh... anything? I like Japanese food, but other stuff is okay.
[Action]
Oh, by the way, I hope you don't mind, but we have someone else staying with us too.
So, you'll have to take our room instead of the guest room!
[Action]
[Her dim eyes light up for a moment as she regains some strength and shakes her head.]
Oh no, I-I could never take your room. That's... your room
[Action]
And a comfy bed is exactly the best way to get that rest!
