[He thought very hard about handing this number over to somebody. He scrawled it on the top margin of a wrinkled grocery store receipt; its words and numbers shifted like code into the Network. He has it in his hand while he writes this in the back of his planner for Locke Academy.

He would have said something about the receipt, if only he hadn't recognized some of the people on here. He's hoping this is some hoax or gaming forum or something. And maybe he's curious about how half of the city went to crap. Either way, it took a while to get himself to write anything down. This is really freaky.]

i found this on accident. [He's convinced, anyway. Because he's normal. 100% normal. Yup.] i'm not a news reporter. i just want the story straight and i won't bug you guys again.

was the snake one of you? someone said what happened was thundercorp's fault. what actually happened?

[There are way too many theories and versions of what happened floating around the city and the internet. He can't get a clear picture anywhere. If this is Superhero Martian Robot or Whatever HQ, he may as well try to get the story straight from here.]

Did you remember anything about the Heartless? They and the Nobodies are like two halves of the same coin. A Heartless is what's created when the heart is forcibly separated from the body. A Nobody is the vessel that's left behind.

[Another weird, resounding emptiness resounds between his ears. He presses his hand back to his forehead, squeezing his eyes shut and expelling a breath.]

...They just keep coming. This is normal, right?

When you talk with people from the same past as you, yeah. I got six or seven in the span of two days once--a guy on the network accidentally summoned a Nobody here.

[Hence why he's making it into a private conversation now. Axel hadn't exactly been keen on anybody else knowing he could control it. And even if he hasn't seen the guy around in a while, that's no excuse to go blabbing it now.]

There were only a few of us then, but each of us echoed back something different. Once we started sharing that information...

[Well. He figures Jesse can figure it out.]

Someone summoned one? You can just do that?

How'd you know I was from the same past as you?

Sort of. You can regain a lot of different things through echoes--memories, obviously, but also the abilities and things your past self had. I think, if you have some sort of connection with it, that's how living things like Nobodies get echoed back.

[He thinks. He's not entirely positive yet.]

So you can't just do it. Not until you echo it back, somehow.

[At Jesse's other question, Dante chuckles.]

I didn't know you were from the same past as me, though. I suppose it was a just a lucky guess.

What's a Nobody even look like?

[That question comes first. And then, after a beat:]

...Should I- Should I really believe you?

[He sounds timid about it? But Sam had already pointed out his folly in letting strangers on an internet forum know all about him. He's getting echoes, but so many at once? from someone who claims not to know him? Calling this person out is the right thing to do, isn't it?]

What reason do you have to not?

This is the internet. [Trying to sound like he's putting his foot down!! He's a little shaky.] You could be anybody.
