detectivetroll: (debating)

are you sure we're not secretly twins

Who: Nick and Melissa
When: February 19th, after work
Where: A bar
What: Corrupt cops and now monster hunters, but still not strippers

Nick isn't usually the type of guy to carry a bag with him, unless it's the first aid kit he keeps in his car. But he hadn't exactly wanted to bring in the ancient-looking book filled with creepy drawings and graphic descriptions, not to mention the suspicious and odd-looking weapons, into the bar just out in the open. So he has a small duffel bag with him, looped over one shoulder and held close in a way that he hopes looks like he's just trying to avoid hitting anyone with it, and not at all like he's being way too protective over it.

Weird, creepy, and dangerous or not, he's pretty sure everything in there is a family heirloom of some kind.

He'd headed for the bar as soon as he got off work, fortunately more or less at a reasonable hour, tonight. As soon as he gets there, he looks for Melissa - but if he can't find her, he'll pick a corner booth for them, back out of the way, and settle down with a beer to wait.

Luckily, what Melissa wants to share is much easier to conceal- and she also has a conceal carry license, so the two extra guns in her purse aren't technically illegal. She got off work a little earlier than Nick, so she's seated in the corner and will wave him over when she sees him.

"Hey," she says with a slight smile- she hasn't yet really bothered to change out of her work clothes, "Glad you made it,"

"Werewolves and zombies," she confirms with a sigh, "Not to mention..." Melissa reaches into her purse, tilting it enough so he can see the two very much not police regulation guns sitting in there. She'll get into what makes those more than just random ass guns in a second.

"Yeah, sure," Melissa says, rubbing a hand against her face in frustration. This whole thing is just... yeah. "Where the hell should we start?"

Melissa takes the book, being very careful of it before opening it up, skimming through a few of the pages. "Holy shit," she mutters, half because of just how goddamn much there is and half the detail it went into. What knowledge she had gotten were usually broader concepts, stuff that she'd clearly memorized either by rote or because it was useful. "I guess you would need a damn for all this..." She'll flip to the end too, and- yup, looks like Nick's handwriting. This is so weird. At least she hasn't gotten an Echo off of it... yet.

[ooc: are there like. grimm versions of ghosts or vampires. >>]

"Apparently..." She's flipping through a little more thoroughly now, noting all the different handwriting, "Well, you win. Nothing I've gotten is nearly this interesting."

There might be a hint of dryness to her voice there.

[ooc: ah ok. o> not sure it the vampire ones would be enough for echos unless there's something like 'btw fire is bad for them' or something. XD]

"A lifetime of confusion? I don't know." She shrugs, smirking a little. "Those guns I have are filled with... different bullets. One's clearly silver bullets; I think the others may be incendiary rounds? I haven't tested them. If I'm right, then I don't want to set any targets on fire." Especially since she's been jumpy about fire since her mods.

[ooc: EXCELLENT echo requests in then~]

"If I look through this thing long enough, I'll probably get some too. I'm bracing for it." She sighs-- echos are probably just a thing that's gonna happen when they talk network stuff. "If you get some of whatever your bullets are supposed to be, then yeah. Not sure what the hell I'm supposed to do with these, though. Not like I can go out to the store and pick up more silver bullets anyway."

"Maybe..." For some reason she doubts that, though. Unfortunately the conversation will probably be diverted when she flips to the next page, and... yeah. There's that Echo she was expecting. "So apparently ghosts- I'm sorry, geists- are a thing too." Ugh, give her a minute to rub at her temples. She should have brought advil.

"Not a hell of a lot," she sighs, "Mostly that the group I was in fought one and it took fucking forever to beat." There's not a hell of a lot more than that, and she was getting the distinct impression it was because she didn't know a lot about them before either.

all aboard the echo train~

"Not that I remember. Just a big, creepy warehouse." She shouldn't surprised that he got a Pulse off of that, seeing as hers was caused by his book.
