What: Dante’s got plans for today. Little does he realize the world has more plans for him.


[A]: [10:00 - 11:30a; Locke City University; open]

[Dante’s got a lot planned for the day. In his most recent conversation with his folks, they’ve started in on the “Why aren’t you doing anything with your life,” “You should find something that interests you,” “Why not see if you can take a few classes until you find what you want to do?” business again. So to appease them he’s taking a trip over to LCU under the pretense of checking it out. He’ll be wandering around the campus for a while, maybe poking into a couple buildings, just seeing what the university has to offer.]


[B]: [12:00p - 2:00p; an upscale restaurant close to the business district; closed]

[Following his inquiries at the university, Dante’s headed over to the business district, where he’s got a lunch meeting with a man called Varric. He recently heard back from an old contact of his, a man named Bernard he’d once run a couple jobs for. Apparently Bernard’s got a couple possibilities of work for him, work that’d be a lot more interesting than sitting around in classes at the local university. The only condition is that he’s got to meet with his younger brother Varric first.

Not a problem. Dante arrives to the restaurant a little bit early, gives his name to the maître d’, and follows him to a table.]


[C]: [2:00p - 3:00p; Locke City public library; open]

[After lunch, it’s time to drop by the library! Dante’s been waiting for a book to come in, and his name is finally up on the waitlist! So he’s going to pick it up, and while he’s there he’ll be browsing the stacks to see if there’s anything else he might be interested in. He’s primarily checking out the nonfiction stacks, but who knows? He might bump into your character on his way to the other side of the stacks.]


[D]: [3:00p - 4:00p; bus stop close to the high school; closed]

[Done at the library, it’s time to head out. Dante catches a bus for part of the way, but hops off near the high school with the intention of hoofing it the rest of the way to the coffee shop to start reading. He isn’t expecting to run into anybody…]


[E]: [4:00p - 6:00p; coffee shop; open-ish with a nod to Wheatley]

[Well. This sure has been a day so far. Dante’s going to just. Find himself a little nook here at the coffee shop and relax as best he can. Except…

Oh.

Well then.]

[Ugh, get a load of this smug loser. Arlene makes up her mind then and there. Like hell is she letting him think he won something here.

She lets him go a few steps, then calls after him:]

Now, if you wanted to talk about Kingdom Hearts...

[darkinferno]

[For a moment, he keeps on walking. But then the echo hits, the information slotting itself neatly into place. Kingdom Hearts... he remembers it. He remembers it as the heart of all worlds, a conglomeration of all the hearts that had been released from the bodies they once inhabited. He remembers seeing it...

But that's all he remembers. He doesn't remember whether it was a good or a bad thing, whether it was something nobody else knew about or common knowledge in his old life and world. He's still missing information, and that bugs him.

So with a suppressed sigh of irritation, he turns around, resting one fist on his hip.]

Now how do you know about that?

[Arlene smirks slightly. Looks like the ball's back in her court.]

Same way as you, I'm sure.

[The statement is accompanied by a shrug and dismissive wave of the hand. The feigned nonchalance doesn't quite reach her voice, though- she's clearly more interested than she means to appear.]

Why should I tell you?

[The ball's back in her court? Dante's not so sure. He knows the value of good information, but he also knows that being the first to flinch gives the other person power. So he shrugs, to all appearances nonchalant.]

Why shouldn't you? Since it's clear we share some of the same origins.

But if you're not interested in learning more about it, then I guess it doesn't matter.

[This. Is Dante. Who is turning to step off again. If she decides to backpedal and call him back, great--they can swap as much information as they've gathered. He's got no qualms about sharing info if he gets something in return.

But if not, he knows her voice and her appearance. It shouldn't be that hard to track her down on the network and see what she's been up to.]

[twelfthspark]

[Let him get away before she's learned more? Not on her life- though it grates a bit, letting his little tactic work. Arlene gives him a brief head start, then follows, falling into step beside him like she hadn't been in a hurry to catch him five seconds ago.]

Fine, I'll humor you. I've got time. What's the deal with Kingdom Hearts, then?

[Don't worry, Dante's not operating under false pretenses here. He knows that she sees right through his ploy. But he doesn't care.

Still, a small smirk.]

It's a physical thing, a joining of hearts. Do you know what the Heartless were?

good thing there isn't a time limit on these things

[This time, she expects the echo, and keeps on walking through it, though her silence and preoccupied expression make it clear what just happened.]

Sure. They needed them to get to Kingdom Hearts. How about you tell me something I don't know?

YOU ARE TELLING ME

[Have a soundless snort, and a shake of the head.]

Gotta make sure you can keep up, first.

Any time a Heartless is destroyed, it releases the heart it was born from. [Skyler specifically mentioned the Keyblade releasing those captive hearts, but Dante's not mentioning that. After all, he only agreed to give her information on Kingdom Hearts.] All those hearts join together, and create Kingdom Hearts.

[Beat.]

Who needed them to get to Kingdom Hearts?

[twelfthspark]

I'm the one who can't keep up? [She rolls her eyes.] Organization XIII.

[That's funny, there was no echo that time. Arlene glances away, frowning slightly.]

Before you even ask, I'm not telling you why.

[darkinferno]

I know about Organization XIII already. [But not enough, it seems. He blinks as the echo hits him, the memory fitting neatly with what he already knows. He was trying to prevent that...]

I'm not asking you to tell me why.

You were going to. [She said as casually as one might say "the sky is blue," flicking her hair back out of her face.]
