[She's been hesitating a little bit about even asking this because, wow, what a question but it's bugging her since the memories of that last Echo really came together.]

This is a weird question, but since those explosions I've been remembering....

I don't know, it's not like I remember anyone being all, "sure is nice, living here on NotEarth!"

[ Her tone remains tense; this is really edging into the territory of things she pretty much exclusively refuses to talk about without very good reason. ]

It's just, nothing seems... right.

This still feels "normal" to me. It's just... I can remember someplace else now, and that other place feels normal to me too.

[ She pauses, considering as she bites her tongue in conflict. It's a long shot, but she might as well try... ]

You've never heard of anything called 'the purge,' have you?

No. Never heard of anything like that.

[And there's a pause of her own.]

Do you remember ash falling from the sky? Or... guys with spikes in their eyes?

[ Damn. Well, it was worth an attempt at it, even if in fruitlessness Kallie wishes she hadn't mentioned it at all. ]

Spikes...?

[ In eyes and ash from the sky? Kallie goes through her memories dutifully - hell, she's used to it enough by now that she even gives it a pause just to see if an Echo decides to kick in, but- ]

... I don't think so.

[Vanessa's thinking the same thing. Worth a shot, even if only for the possibility of somebody who might be able to fill in some of the blanks.]

Damn.

[... She doesn't like to talk about the spike-eye guys. The ash and red sun is one thing but something about the spike-eyes is just extra frightening.]

So, what's a "purge"?

[ For the most part. She has theories but again they're not really the sort of thing she's willing to share over coffee, much less a random network conversation. ]

Probably nothing good.

[That's fair enough. There's plenty of stuff she doesn't want to talk about with just anybody as well so she gets it.]

I guess it wouldn't be with a name like that.

[ Rough sigh. She pauses as she kind of takes a moment to refresh her mind. ]

... Anyway, what makes you so sure your memories are... from another planet?

Red sun, raining ash, and huge clouds of smoke in the sky.

[She frowns on her end.]

If it's Earth then something pretty extreme must have happened but it just felt... normal. It's hard to explain.

I guess.

[ Her first thought is something along the lines of considering that even something like that would seem normal if that's what you were already used to, but... this is getting a little too sci-fi for her; it's making her head hurt in the attempt to reconcile with these memories seeming to be from a past life or something. ]
