There seem to be quite a few things different about me physically, ever since I discovered this network a few months back, and aside from being a little irritating, most of them haven't significantly affected me to the point of not being able to function. However, I think that there is something odd going on with my eating habits. I've been hungry in an odd way since I visited the Tuning Towers and it's been going on for weeks and nothing is really helping the issue. And I think I've figured out what that is, though how I figured out involves a very uncomfortable bus ride with people who have no concept of personal space, but very tantalizing, ah... Well... Jugular veins.

Anyway, that odd statement coming from me really should make what I'm about to ask obvious, but bear with me, because I am going to ask a mildly disturbing question.

Does anyone else besides me feel a particular urge to, oh I don't know, drink blood? And along the same vein- I mean- Along the same lines, is there any way to make it stop aside from the usual thing? I've read enough literature to understand the basic idea but is there anyway to opt out? Because I'd really rather not go down that path at the moment.

You're definitely not the first. I still have a key to the morgue. I could do some routine blood draining and save it for you if you need it.

Oh, nothing gross or anything. I'm a mortician. I've actually treated another vampire before in the same way.

I can put it in an IV bag if you want. You can squirt it into your mouth and pretend it's bagged wine, if that helps you mentally at all.

Oh, yeah, that could be a problem. Bagged blood it is, then. I can see if I have any of those casks that desert travelers use, if that would be any cooler for you. No guarantees, though.

It's no trouble. I don't think I can find a cask like that anyway. A skein? Man, I know it has a name. It's gonna drive me crazy.

Anyway, you name the time and place and I'll bring you some blood. ...I should not be sounding so cavalier about that.

I'll be there, yeah. That works! Is there anything you want me to call you, just so I don't accidentally give it to the wrong person?

Nice to meet you, Kanti. [she knows she can't imitate the aspiration at the end of Kanti's last name, so she doesn't even try.] I'll see you Friday, then.

[AND THEN IT WAS FRIDAY and Brooke is now waiting near the alleyway entrance to the morgue she works at. it's totally legitimate and not shady, and she definitely isn't keeping a bag of a decedent's blood in the fridge inside. nope, this is all 100% legal and on the up and up. she'd texted Kanti a selfie earlier in the day with instructions to meet in that alleyway. hopefully the inherently kind of creepy nature of the entire practice doesn't end up turning her away.]

[no twins except the one that apparently she's echoing back into, but that's totally not the same thing because there's still only one Brooke. anyway, that sure is Kanti, as advertised, and Brooke puts a broad grin on her face.]

That's me. Kanti? [she looks at the teas approvingly; she wasn't expecting it, but this could be a lovely chance to get to know each other.] Sorry this had to be so shady. Here, come in. [with her good arm, she holds open the metal door that goes down into a well-lit, white stairway. The contrast between outside and inside is honestly kind of impressive.

No problem. I appreciate it. [now that she doesn't have to hold the door anymore, she takes the offered cup gingerly.]

I've got it for you down the hall, but if you want to sit down in the break room and just talk for a while, that's okay, too. [her grin normalizes to a polite and genuine look.] It's up to you. But for what it's worth, you seem interesting.
